About this event

POSTPONED - This event has been postponed due to an emergency in the speaker’s family. We hope to reschedule the event in January and will announce a new date once more information is available.

4–5 p.m.: Talk/presentation in the Jones Room, Woodruff Library Level 3

6–8 p.m.: Workshop in Conservation Lab, Woodruff Library Level 1 (limited to 15 people)

Presentation:

In considering the history of Atlanta’s Nexus Press, the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking, and the Decatur Arts Alliance's “Book as Art” annual exhibition, it’s clear that Atlanta is a wonderland for paper and book arts enthusiasts. Museum of Papermaking exhibits coordinator Jerushia Graham highlights a few of the amazing book arts resources Atlanta offers and shares examples of what makes book arts so fascinating and hard to define.

Workshop: Stop motion with paper cutouts

Experience the magic of cut-out stop motion animation with local artist and Jerushia Graham! You'll create a lively animation using cutouts from book jackets, magazine clippings, and decorative paper scraps. Participants are encouraged to bring photocopies, photos, or paper elements that they don't mind cutting up. The processes shared during the workshop are easy to replicate at home for future enjoyment.

Registration is capped at 15 participants. Please come with your smartphone or tablet loaded with an amination app such as Stop Motion Studio, PowerDirector, Clayframes – Stop-motion for Android, or iMotion. Optional: photocopies/decorative papers to cut, and any small items you would like to use as props.
