Pride Month Event: Drag Bingo w/Absolutely Dragulous & Girls on the Run!

Girls on the Run is an international organization that began in 1996 to promote physical, emotional and social development in girls before they reach high school. Girls on the Run of Central Maryland is an independent council of Girls on the Run and has served over 15,000 girls since its inception in 2009.

The Girls on the Run program uses an experience-based curriculum which integrates running to inspire girls to bejoyful, healthy and confident. Girls on the Run utilizes two different age-appropriate curriculums; girls in grades 3-5 use Girls on the Run, while girls in grades 6-8 use Heart & Sole. The interactive curriculum is fun and challenging, covering meaningful topics such as self-awareness, building healthy relationships, and developing personal strengths while engaging in physical activities. The curriculum also includes lessons specifically devoted to community service. Each season culminates with a fun, non-competitive 5k run open to the community at the end of the 10-week season.

Girls on the Run is offered at more than 65 schools in Carroll, Cecil, Harford, and Howard counties each Fall and Spring. The program fee is $175 per participant and includes 20 lessons delivered by trained coaches, a GOTR t-shirt and 5k finisher’s medal, entry for the end of season 5k, and a healthy snack at each practice. No girl is turned away due to financial restrictions, and scholarships are available for families based on financial need.
