Grounded in movement lawyering, the clinic integrates transactional legal services, policy advocacy, and institutional design in partnership with grassroots partners in historically disinvested and exploited communities to build community wealth and power. Its work also includes advancing tenant organizing, affordable housing, and health justice as part of a broader approach to addressing structural inequality and the social determinants of health.Through its global engagement, including collaboration with Mondragon and the Mondragon Team Academy, the CEDC connects local practice to international models of cooperative development. Students work directly with community partners and with Mondragon teams on projects that support the development and strengthening of democratic, community-rooted economies. This work builds on a Memorandum of Understanding between Mondargon and the CEDC supporting joint research, ecosystem development, and immersive learning exchanges. Through this collaboration, the clinic engages in shared learning and applied practice to co-develop democratic economic models across local and global contexts.
