Last year native New Yorker and playwright, Jonno LaMont teamed up with composer, Noah Sherman to write 19 original songs. They would turn these songs into a full 3-act Afro-Jazz Fusion musical called "(De) Crowning of Melchizedek". The narrative uses blends varioius African traditions and instruments to tell the story of Melchizedek, a mystical spirit that reincarnates into the body of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King to prevent the end of the world.
The show first premiered with a 23-person orchestra and costumed cast at Nublu 151 in Alphabet City, NYC, and after some workshopping the music will be performed again Monday May 20th & 27th!
