The Old Grantsville Church Theatre presents "Press Forward: A Book of Mormon Family Musical," May 9, 10, 11, 13, 17, 18 and 20 at 7pm, with a matinee at 1pm on May 18. "Press Forward" is an original full-length musical, bringing the Book of Mormon to life in a powerful new way. It follows the lives of prophets Lehi and Nephi, featuring the prophetic calling of Lehi in Jerusalem; the 8-year wilderness journey of their family; Nephi's growth as a prophet and leader in his own right; and the establishment of two unique civilizations in the New World. The heartbreaking family dramas, personal struggles, contributions and triumphs of this family (both the men and the women) are also shown - breathing new life into these beloved characters, and making them powerfully relatable to the challenges of individuals and families in our own time.
The music for the show is in a broad range of styles, reflecting the unique characteristics and feelings of the different characters - from tender pop ballads to light-hearted showtunes; from classic oratorio to intense rock opera - creating a powerful mix of sound sure to thrill your ears, touch your heart, and lift your spirit. Written and directed by Carrie Maxwell Wrigley, this musical was first performed in 2016 at the LDS Conference Center Theater, and was created to provide inspiration and strength to those seeking, within their own lives and families, to "Press Forward."
Guests will be seated in the order they reserved their tickets, so reserve early for up-front seats! Doors open 1/2 hour before the show starts.
