About the Facilitator

Sage Dawson is an artist and curator whose work examines the politics of housing and labor inherent to the American city. She’s drawn to analog approaches to technology and explores ways of making that typify domestic labor: banner-making, needlepoint, open-work, patterning, and sewing. Dawson is the co-director at STNDRD, a public art project within an empty lot in Granite City, Illinois, and NON STNDRD, two adjacent exhibition spaces. She earned a Master of Fine Arts with a museum studies minor from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Missouri State University. Dawson has exhibited, lectured, curated, and presented work at various sites including the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (Norwalk, CT), the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Project Space/Printed Matter (New York), the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art (Grand Rapids, MI), the Pulitzer Arts Foundation (St. Louis), the Chicago Artists Coalition, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Ortega y Gasset (Brooklyn), Tate Exchange (London), Boston University School of Visual Arts, Super Duchess (New York), the Saint Louis Art Museum, Laumeier Sculpture Park (St. Louis), The Luminary (St. Louis), Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles), and the City University of New York, among others.
