About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 6 hours

Ensuring educational materials, including digital tools and resources, can effectively support all students, including those with disabilities, is a challenge. PreK-12 education systems often have a gap in the accessibility of procured and teacher-created educational materials which can negatively impact learning experiences. That’s why over the last 40 years CAST has developed the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to provide educators with a lens to identify and reduce barriers that limit learning. Join us to discover how to break down those barriers to learning and create an environment where every student can thrive.

CAST’s Introduction to UDL live virtual workshop, which is limited to 30 participants, provides an interactive learning experience that equips educators with the skills and knowledge to create learning environments that address the needs of all learners, empowered by our framework. This hands-on course introduces educators to the core concepts and foundations of UDL, and how to apply UDL to lesson design sustainably, supporting flexible, inclusive instruction.

What you will learn

  • The foundational concepts of UDL and the structure of the UDL Guidelines
  • How to design using the UDL design process and identify UDL in practice
  • Strategies to support students to become expert learners
  • Cutting edge research from the learning sciences on UDL
