Projectorfest presents multimedia comedy shows from Laura Ornella and Val Parker

These shows are presented as a part of Projectorfest 2025, a weeklong showcase of ambitious multimedia-driven comedy projects. PREDICTABLE - Laura Ornella 
Laura never thought caring for her 90-year-old Cuban grandfather would be in her future. Turns out her psychic never saw it coming either. This is a tale about discovering your heritage, navigating the nation's terrible health system, and learning how to put diapers on your abuelo — all while occasionally seeing a weirdly accurate psychic. 
ARCHITECTURAL DIGRESS - Val Parker 
Val Parker has always felt that Architectural Digest could use a few more hoarder houses. 
Luckily, she happened to grow up in a home that, at its kindest, has been referred to as a “chaotic, maximalist fever dream.” The decor choices range from “odd” to “spiritually unsettling,” featuring such treasures as a four-foot red styrofoam phone, a giant backyard chess set no one is allowed to touch, and “Pop Art Pete”—a 5x5 rendering of Val’s father in the style of Andy Warhol, lovingly gazing down over family dinners. 
But, what if, like most works of art, her parents’ house is simply a misunderstood masterpiece? 
Through a multimedia tour, Val will defend every “unhinged” design choice, unpacking the deep familial dynamics that allowed for such decisions to be made and then presented to any and all houseguests unfortunate enough to agree to visit. 
Throughout the show, she’ll ask questions like, “Where is the line between genius and mental illness?” “What makes a house a home?” and “What then turns that home right back into a very ugly house?” 
Step-by-step, room by room, she’ll trace the process of growing up and slowly realizing that your home—and its inhabitants—might be a little different from your friends’. Welcome to our fever dream house. 
ABOUT THE CREATORS 
Laura Ornella is a first-generation Cuban American, New York-based actor, writer and comedian. Her credits include Just For Laughs, Comedy Central, Vulture, SeriesFest and HollyShorts. Laura is the co-creator of the critically acclaimed Easily Solved Mysteries. Other credits include "Diane de Niro" and "Fucktown, USA" which all festivals reject because of the name — but she refuses to change it because she thinks it's funny. Val Parker is a NYC-based comedian whose writing has been featured by McSweeney’s, The A.V. Club, Forbes, Vulture, Buzzfeed, and more. Her most recent screenplay won the Atlanta Film Festival and placed top ten at Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Screenplay contest. Val also does stand-up, producing her own line of shows and opening for Jerrod Carmichael while undergrad at UChicago. Val's most recent film is the short mockumentary, "Wax Paul Now," featuring Paul Giamatti, which was accepted to the Miami Film Festival and AFI Fest, an Oscar-qualifying film festival. She produces Bomb Shelter Comedy and Ask a Fuckboy, both featured by TimeOutNY.
