Who can attend this class?

Accepted Answer

This class is open to all Manchester Makerspace members.  Completing this class will give you access and completes your check-out on the manual lathe.

Question 2

Are there any prerequisites for this class?

Accepted Answer

Not really, you need basic eye hand coordination, reading English, basic math skills, addition and subtraction.  Have the physical capability to operate this machine.   The class reviews safety, machine lubrication, machine parts identification, basic setup, some level of print reading.

Question 3

Do students need to bring anything for the class?

Accepted Answer

We have safety gear safety glasses (including face shields), but you may choose to bring your own.   Short sleeves required, never wear loose-fitting clothing or jewelry while operating a lathe.

Question 4

Can we fire the cannon?

Accepted Answer

Being in downtown Manchester, the makerspace isn't zoned for artiller.   The cannon,   however,  is designed to be fired with Fg black powder and paper wadding, but no projectile.
