... in which PPIG experiments with a thing called virtual conferencing.

Dear PPIGers,As with many other conferences needing to adjust to the new circumstances, PPIG will be going online as well. At the core of the PPIG annual workshops is the fostering of a community of people interested in all aspects of programming. We aim to maintain and support these goals in the transition to the online setup as well.We are replacing the single event initially planned for July with two one-week-long virtual events in August (17th to 21st) and November (16th to 20th). During each of the weeks, we&#x27;ll meet for two to three hours a day for presentations, discussions, panels and social activities. We’re encouraging all our attendees to keep in touch during and between the two events, and we’re planning for some additional activities to support this.A more detailed schedule will be published closer to the time, and things might move around a bit, but our working programme outline for the upcoming session is:Monday, 17th August: Conference start, introductions and an icebreaker activityTuesday, 18th August: Invited panel on programming for communities followed by open discussion Wednesday, 19th August: Paper presentations, invited talk on artistic programmingThursday, 20th August: Paper presentations, invited CSEd panelFriday, 21st August: Doctoral Consortium presentations, data science and software engineering discussionWe’ll be meeting each day starting at 4pm UK, 11am Eastern, 8am Pacific, for about 2 hours of scheduled content, followed by up to one extra hour of social activities.The conference registration is free, and you will need to register so we can share the virtual meeting links and invite you to the Discord channel we’ll be using for keeping in touch throughout the event.
