The public release of NYC’s first-ever Long-Term Energy Plan

This event will bring together PowerUp’s Energy Technical Working Group, community-based organizations, and dozens of cross-sectoral clean energy stakeholders to celebrate the launch of PowerUp NYC. This report announces 29 initiatives across three areas - Energy Grid, Transportation, and Buildings - that outline how we can center equity, affordability, and health in our move away from fossil fuels and build our clean energy future. Remarks from the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice and a panel discussion focused on strategies to overcome historic barriers and implement the initiatives detailed in PowerUp. Su Sanni, Dollaride Su Sanni is a social entrepreneur and tech executive hailing from Brooklyn, NY. He’s the Cofounder &amp; CEO of Dollaride, a mobility company for communities that are underserved by public transit. Dollaride is currently working on an ambitious clean energy transportation project called the Clean Transit Access Program (CTAP), aimed at electrifying NYC dollar vans and creating EV charging infrastructure in Brooklyn &amp; Queens. In past ventures, he's helped more than 2000 nonprofit organizations raise over $50M using WeDidIt, an online fundraising platform. Su led WeDidIt to its acquisition by the Allegiance Fundraising Group in June 2019. Prior to founding WeDidIt, Su was responsible for investing over $2B per day in the country’s oldest investment bank - Brown Brothers Harriman. He graduated with degrees in Psychology and Business Management from Boston College and is a product of NYC public schools. Sam Jung, NYC EDC Sam Jung is the Vice President of Renewable Energy Industry Development at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). He is responsible for developing and advancing equitable innovation, supply chain and workforce development initiatives to accelerate the growth of the offshore wind, energy storage, electric vehicle, and solar industries in New York City. Prior to this role, Sam worked at the NYC Mayor’s Office where he co-led the inclusive economic development and business innovation portfolio of the Deputy Mayor of Strategic Policy Initiatives to enable community wealth generation at scale. Sam is passionate about advancing a Just Transition through developing non-extractive economic development paradigms and strategies. He holds a Masters Degree in City Planning from MIT, and BAs in International Studies and Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego. Angel Chen, KC3Angel Chen is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Kinetic Communities Consulting (KC3) and supported the PowerUp NYC Long Term Energy Plan as a Community Engagement Lead. Her background in sustainable urban environments and planning has motivated her to support broader climate goals through communicating with local communities and connecting them with existing resources. Prior to joining KC3, Angel worked for the Redistricting Data Hub as a Training Specialist specifically supporting community members in defining their communities of interest (COI). Her experience with different intersections of urban life and policy encourages her to find a holistic approach to sustainability and climate readiness - one that involves empowering communities.
