PowerShell Modules for the DBA

Ben has been a member of the SQL Server Community for over 20 years now.  He is currently working at MaritzCX wrangling the SQL Server environment. He also consults as well.  He is a SQL Server MVP and SQL Server MCM and has spent time in the field using SQL Server since 1997. He has worked at various companies throughout the US as well as at Microsoft for 7 years. He teaches PowerShell for SQL Professionals to help DBAs get the most out of PowerShell and scale their work effortlessly.  He is passionate about SQL Server and automation and integration and uses SMO and PowerShell regularly.

Ever wonder what the buzz is about using SQL Server and PowerShell together? If you have wondered, you are not alone. This day long precon goes into the PowerShell modules that are out there that make your life so much better. From the SQLServer module from Microsoft to the DBATools module from the SQL Server Community there are so many good Functions out there that you will love. We will be diving into the commands and where you can get the most bang for the buck out of them. With these modules is a wealth of information. I will show you how to gather this information into a database for trending, alerts, etc. I will also show you how to use these modules to make changes to SQL Server objects or configuration without using Management Studio. This session is not meant to show you how to replace SSMS but more to give you another tool in your toolbelt. You will be amazed at what you can do with this new tool.
You should have a basic knowledge of PowerShell, but it is not necessary to know much more than what it is. You should have a knowledge of objects in SQL Server to get the most out of this session.
