Wednesdays are for Woodworking and Power Tool skills! Looking to jumpstart or deepen your knowledge of woodworking and carpentry power tools? This is the workshop series for you! Dani Fraley of Suncraft Collective will walk the class through each tool, starting with the absolute basics (what is this? why do we use it?) and help each attendee work their way towards using the tools safely and skillfully with independence.

This week's workshop will focus on drills, drivers, as well as how to mount things on the wall!


Lead Poisoning Hazard Disclaimer: All home renovation work can create a significant lead hazard if completed in a pre-1978 home. DIYD will provide Lead Poisoning Prevention resources to any workshop attendee living in a pre-1978 home. DIYD also hosts a lead safety class twice a year - we highly recommend that you sign up for the lead safety class before you complete these projects in your home if your home was built before 1978 and you have young children living in your home.

About the teacher:

Dani Fraley is a professional woodworker that specializes in furniture, millwork, and finish carpentry. She has a degree from DAAP, and worked as a designer for several years before transitioning into carpentry in 2018. She now has her own small business and a workshop in Camp Washington.

Dani knows how rewarding it is to work with your hands to make something, and believes it should be accessible to everyone. She enjoys helping others grow their confidence and skills, while emphasizing safety and positivity.

About Do It Yourself Darlin Workshops:

Do It Yourself Darlin (DIYD) hosts educational, hands-on home repair workshops for new and veteran homeowners, renters, and everyone in between. The program aims to empower anyone and everyone to feel comfortable and confident understanding the components that make up a house while learning home repair and tool use skills along the way. All of DIYD‘s workshops are geared toward beginners, pay-what-you-can, taught by local Cincinnati craftspeople, and open to everyone ages 16 and up.

DIYD is a program of the non-profit CDC Price Hill Will. DIYD’s programming is made possible through grant funding, sponsorships, donations, and workshop ticket sales.

Frequently asked questions

What is my ticket money paying for?

Since DIYD is a non-profit, most of DIYD’s general expenses are paid for via grants, sponsorships, and individual donations. Ticket sales help us to offset the costs of specific workshop expenses, such as teacher fees and workshop materials.

Why should I make a donation to DIYD beyond the full cost of a ticket?

If you are able to make a donation to DIYD beyond the cost of the general admission ticket, your donation will help DIYD continue to offer the “pay-what-you-can” ticket model for attendees for whom the cost of admission would be a barrier to entry.

What is a class size of a DIYD workshop?

Class size in workshops typically ranges from 5 to 15 people, depending on the topic.

Can I bring my child with me to the workshop?

Unless we are explicitly offering childcare, we ask that you do not bring children under 16 to our workshops as our venue is not child-safe and there is no space for them to spend time during the workshop. Children over the age of 16 are welcome to join as a workshop participant.

What should I wear to the workshop?

We strongly recommend that participants wear close-toed, comfortable shoes, and durable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or dusty. If you have long hair, it is recommended that you bring a hair tie to put it up during the hands-on portions of the workshops.

Do I need to bring my own tools?

DIYD will provide all tools and safety equipment for all participants at each workshop. If you do have your own tools, we encourage you to bring them to a tool-specific workshop if you’d like the opportunity to learn more about the tools you already have.
