Sorry for the late change!Please join us for the other parts of The People's Fair 12:00 - 3:00 -- Resource Fair 3:00 - 5:00 -- Sessions on reclaiming spirituality and the camping ban 5:30 - 7:00 -- Community meal around the longest table in the city 7:00 - 8:30 -- Song, storytelling, documentary premiere, and inspirationWe'll be going all day on Friday 8/7 at Deliverance Temple (1125 E 6th St in Alton). Come join us as we build beloved community with and among our neighbors facing poverty, homelessness, and exclusion!*****<h2>Poverty Simulation</h2>What is it like to live with your back against the wall? During this interactive experience, you'll spend one simulated month navigating the challenges faced by families living with low incomes. The object of this experience is to sensitize us to the day-to-day realities of life faced by many of our neighbors and to motivate us to help reduce poverty in our community. The Poverty Simulation is part of The People's Fair, a day of community, learning, and hope featuring:- A resource fair for people experiencing poverty and homelessness- Educational workshops and trainings- A community meal around the biggest table in the city- Live music and a preview screening of a locally-produced documentary Whether you're a community leader, service provider, volunteer, or simply want to better understand the challenges your neighbors face, this powerful experience will leave you with new insights—and a renewed commitment to making a difference.
