Exciting Poultry Workshops Coming Your Way!

Get ready to spread your wings and dive into the wonderful world of poultry with our upcoming series of workshops! Whether you're a seasoned breeder or just starting out, there's something for everyone to cluck about. Join us for an egg-citing journey filled with knowledge, fun, and feathered friends! Currituck County 4-H is hosting three  workshops for youth ages 5-18 wanting to learn more about the fascinating world of chickens. Here's what you can look forward to in the coming months:

Beginner's Basics and Basic Care-June 13, 2024 : Perfect for newcomers and experienced poultry enthusiasts alike, this workshop will cover everything from selecting the right breed,  basic care and nutrition, and housing tips. Egg-cellent Egg Production for Backyard Birds-July 9, 2024: Learn the secrets to maximizing egg production- from nutrition and health to optimal laying conditions. Showmanship Tips, Tricks and Techniques- August 27, 2024: Learn all the techniques and methods to get both your bird and yourself “Show Ready”.  Showmanship requires attention to detail, proper dress and specific knowledge and skills to effectively interact with the judges.
