<h3>Post Election Support Group for Trans and Nonbinary Folks 🏳️‍⚧️</h3> Let’s face it: this has been an intense, challenging season. Trans folks across the country are on edge—and for good reason! As we move through this election cycle, many of us feel caught between the threats to our community posed by Trump’s anti-trans platform and our anguish over the U.S. government’s support for Israel’s genocidal violence in Palestine. This moment brings up complex, often conflicting emotions—grief, anger, and deep concerns for both our safety and the broader global community.No matter the outcome, we know one thing for sure: we take care of us.That’s why we’re holding space for our community to gather and feel supported together. Join TACT on Tuesday, November 12, at 4:30 pm PST / 7:30 pm EST for a Pop-Up Support Group. This loosely structured, non-judgmental space is for trans and nonbinary individuals to share and process their feelings around this election season. Facilitated by Kiyo Faas (all pronouns) and Taj M. Smith (he/him), the group welcomes everyone, regardless of voting status or political perspective, to come together in support and solidarity. Group AgreementsPolitics can be a highly charged, emotional topic, so we ask all who attend to read and honor our group agreements. These guidelines help us create a compassionate, open space that invites diverse perspectives and differences: <ul><li>Take care of yourself: Be on screen, off screen, eat, move locations, go to the bathroom, and any other things you may need during the call. Your wellbeing is a priority.</li><li>Confidentiality: Take home learnings but don’t identify anyone other than yourself, now or later without prior consent.</li></ul><ul><li>Share from your own experiences: Attend to and speak about your own experiences and responses. Do not speak for a whole group or express assumptions about the experience of others.</li><li>Understand the difference between intent and impact: Try to understand and acknowledge impact. Denying the impact of something said by focusing on intent is often more destructive than the initial interaction.</li><li>Practice “BOTH/AND”: When speaking, substitute “and” for “but.” This practice acknowledges and honors multiple realities.</li><li>Refrain from blaming or shaming self &amp; others: Practice giving skillful feedback and allow for different perspectives to have space in the conversation.</li><li>Move up/move back: Encourage full participation by all present. Take note of who is speaking and who is not. If you tend to speak often, consider “moving back” and vice versa.</li><li>Practice Mindful Listening: Try to avoid planning what you’ll say as you listen to others. Be willing to be surprised, to learn something new. Listen with your whole self.</li></ul> This support group aims to hold space for feelings rather than debating ideologies or political standpoints. Ultimately, we all want the same thing: to belong and feel safe in the world. Help us make this space a moment of that belonging and safety. TACT is a nonprofit initiative building a national support network for trans and nonbinary individuals that is inspired, led, and facilitated by trans people themselves.
