Join Turing School of Software &amp; Design for a beginner level, Try Coding Workshop primarily using the JavaScript programming language. This quick workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about coding but hasn’t spent too much time exploring software development. What is JavaScript?JavaScript is the programming language that allows developers to build complex features on web pages. Anytime a web page does more than display static information—animated graphics, interactive maps, displaying live content updates—that’s JavaScript at work! It’s also one of the <a href="https://www.northeastern.edu/graduate/blog/most-popular-programming-languages/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">most popular programming languages </a>in the world. <h3>Workshop Overview</h3>This is a fast-paced, beginner-level course in Front-End Engineering. Front-End Software Developers focus on the user experience and visual interface of a website or application and commonly use Javascript. You’ll get a taste of what a Front-End Developer does and collaborate with the instructor and other participants to build an interactive FAQ web page. You can expect to gain exposure to HTML and CSS, as well as write JavaScript to build an engaging and dynamic web page that you can share with friends and family!Before attending, you should be comfortable with navigating the basic operations of a computer, you will be expected to use the following skills: typing, copying and pasting text, navigating the internet through a browser, and conversing via video chat. There are no prerequisites for this course, so just bring your creative and playful mind (and a computer!) to this interactive workshop!Former Turing School students have included warehouse managers, pastry chefs, baristas, customer support representatives, veterans, product managers, stay-at-home parents, and even former professional sports players. How will I connect to the virtual workshop?You will need a computer for this workshop that can connect to the internet and operate Zoom. We recommend that you download Zoom now to ensure it is compatible with your computer and that you are using the most updated version. 2. When will I receive the Zoom link? Zoom information will be sent to you through Eventbrite after you register for the event. 3. What equipment should I have for this online workshop?A laptop or computer that can connect to the internet via a web browser. We recommend using headphones to minimize distractions and ensure you can access the information. It will also be beneficial to find a quiet working space where you will be able to focus during the duration of the course.4. I want to attend but I can&#x27;t afford it. Are there any scholarships available?We are offering scholarships on a limited basis for students with financial need. Please contact trycoding@turing.edu for more information. 5. Are kids welcome?This is a course designed for professional-level adults and is not created with kids in mind. We ask that individuals under age 17 years old do not register and/or attend. 6. I’m already a little bit practiced in SQL - will I still benefit from this course?This course is designed for people who are brand new to SQL and have never tried it before. That doesn’t mean that those with some experience aren’t welcome or will not benefit from it, but some parts may be a review. 7. What is the refund policy?If for any reason you can’t make it to the event, tickets are refundable up to 24 hours before. If the event has passed then we are happy to transfer your ticket to any upcoming<a href="https://turing.io/try-coding/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Try Coding workshop</a>. 9. I am brand new to tech and am unsure what field I would like to study - what type of Try Coding workshop should I attend? We recommend trying as many different Try Coding workshops as possible if you are just starting out on your journey into a career transition into tech. Attending a workshop, building a project, and spending time deep-diving into a potential new field will be one of the best ways to determine whether Software Development, Data Analytics, or another related technical role is the right fit for you. *Cancellation of events are dependent on a variety of factors including registrations, inclement weather and pressing needs that come up. If we do cancel your Try Coding workshop, you will be notified more than 24 hours in advance, credited back your registration payment and sent the schedule of other events. During the workshop, participants are asked to follow instructor directions and conduct themselves respectfully in all interactions. If you are a repeated disturbance, our instructors reserve the right to remove you from the class.
