About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Interested in attracting pollinating insects to your garden? Don’t miss the Land Trust's Pollinator Habitat Workshop at Spruce Acres Farm on Sunday, April 27, from 9 - 11 a.m. (rescheduled from Saturday due to inclement weather). We'll share ways that you can help provide a home for pollinating and other beneficial insects in your own backyard and discuss different features of pollinator habitat and pollinator-friendly ways to prep your garden for the spring. Afterward, participants will learn more about hoverflies, an important type of pollinator, from Rhode Island Natural History Survey entomologist George Christie and get the chance to build and bring home their very own “hoverfly lagoon”!

NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring a leftover 1/2 gallon milk jug or similar-sized, water-holding plastic container to the workshop to build their hoverfly lagoon.
