Pollination Apps

Chicago Innovation Tech 2022 seeks to bring and create a pipeline of innovation, research, and start-ups with focus on solving and promoting innovation in the architecture, engineering, construction and operation industry (AECO). This event is a multidisciplinary collaboration of local design technologists , engineers, designers and technology enthusiasts practicing in the AEC industry. We believe this event has the potential to foster innovation and create local incubators in the area. We see this symposium and masterclass as the first steps to a new discourse in technology and innovation in the Chicago area.

DescriptionIn the first section of the workshop, we will design, build and deploy a Pollination App (https://app.pollination.cloud/apps) from scratch. Closer to the end of the workshop, we will modify the app to become a Rhino and Revit plugin. By the end of this workshop, you should be able to start writing your custom app, deploy it to Pollination and share it with your colleagues or publicly on the web. Basic knowledge of scripting in Python is required.KeywordsPollination, Python, Streamlit, Open-source, Ladybug ToolsSoftware<ol><li>A code editor for writing and running Python scripts. The instructor will be using Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/) during the workshop.</li><li>Python 3.7 or higher. The instructor will use Python 3.7. Follow this tutorial to set up Visual Studio Code and the Python Extension (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/python/python-tutorial).</li><li>Optionally, one of the Pollination Rhino or Revit plugin in case you want to integrate the app into any of them. You can also keep your apps as pure web-based applications if desired.</li></ol>Prerequisites<ol><li>A basic understanding of Python scripting is required.</li><li>Familiarity with the Ladybug Tools python libraries, Streamlit and other Python packages is helpful but not required.</li><li>Read through the documentation before the workshop to familiarize yourself with the concepts and ensure your system is set up correctly (https://docs.pollination.cloud/user-manual/apps/introduction).</li></ol><a href="https://www.chicagoinnovate.tech/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Chicago Innovate Tech</a>
