Event description

Description

It’s often said that the arc of history bends toward justice — but it’s less often that we talk about who actually does the bending. In an era when officials can be more likely to follow rather than lead, the hard work of changing our collective story for the better starts with people power — movements and those who build and support them.

Across a range of issues, from criminal justice reform, to education, to immigrant rights, the effort to create systems that work for everyone has always required a critical mass of humans building awareness, fighting against opposition, and amassing public support. There’s no reason to assume that 2020, a presidential election year, will be any different. In fact, in the eyes of many movement leaders, this year might be one of the most important in recent memory for our shared journey toward a better world.

At Pollen Live, we’ll meet leaders deeply embedded in the work of bringing people together — often across lines of difference — to fight for equity, empathy, and our shared humanity. We’ll explore what makes movements succeed, or fail. We’ll hear about communities sparking conversation, driving action, and shaping policy. And we’ll do all of that with a generous helping of Pollen’s signature storytelling, full of sound, color, and thought-provoking conversation.
