About Rebuild by DesignRebuild by Design marshals the talent of the world to answer a region’s greatest needs. Using an innovative process based on the design competition model, Rebuild by Design places local communities and civic leaders at the heart of a robust, interdisciplinary creative process to generate implementable solutions for a more resilient region.Originally launched in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Rebuild by Design has generated ten groundbreaking designs to enhance resilience throughout the Northeast US. Rebuild by Design keeps community coalitions connected to the process; explores changes needed in policy, regulation, and operations; and researches the best practices in developing resilience as it helps other regions rethink resilience before disaster strikes.Through a partnership with 100 Resilient Cities (100RC), Rebuild by Design is bringing its best-in-class design and research-driven processes to more cities around the globe, working to build their long-term resilience. Join us to discuss discuss the policy aspects of projects from the Hurricane Sandy Competition Projects including green infrastructure, regional coordination, coastal defenses and institutionalization. The report, <A HREF="http://rebuildbydesign.org/our-work/research/rebuilding-with-resilience-lessons-from-the-rebuild-by-design-competition" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rebuilding with Resilience Policy Report</A> outlines the opportunities learned from the Sandy projects other cities can address to build resilient infrastructure.

ABOUT THE REPORT:
Hurricane Sandy Design Competition projects were selected to demonstrate innovative approaches for rebuilding communities affected by Hurricane Sandy in ways that will enhance physical, social, economic, and environmental resilience. Three years into implementation, these projects are providing important lessons about how officials at all levels of government can design and construct infrastructure projects that deliver multiple community benefits.
Rebuild partnered with the Georgetown Climate Center and Rockefeller Foundation to generate a report and event called Rebuild with Resilience: Lessons from the Rebuild by Design competition after Hurricane Sandy.
