Pointed Pen Basics

Nina Tran is a wife to loving husband and a stay-at-home-mom to 3 children.  She and her family are happily based in the San Fernando Valley.Nina has been studying and practicing pointed pen calligraphy since the start of 2015 and specializes in Copperplate (Engrosser's Script) and Spencerian Script.Outside of her home, she enjoys learning and taking calligraphy classes at Ink.Academy in Berkeley, CA and with the Society for Calligraphy guild in Los Angeles, CA.  Her deep love for learning powers and propels her passion for teaching.Check out her work on Instagram:@anintran.

Do you to learn pointed pen calligraphy but don’t know where to begin? This is the class for you!
Objective:
Our goal is to build strong roots for your script to blossom by establishing a deep foundation and understanding for the tools and materials, basic techniques and key concepts. We will learn how to use our tools for optimal results and how to study and practice at home with confidence.
Description:
In this 3-hour class, you will learn all the basics of pointed pen calligraphy:
<UL>
<LI>How to use, dip, and clean a pointed pen</LI>
<LI>Pen grip, pen and paper angle, and posture</LI>
<LI>How to select nibs, inks, and papers for practice</LI>
<LI>Basic Lowercase strokes for Copperplate</LI>
<LI>Basic drills and tips for practicing at home</LI>
</UL>
Prerequisite:
No prior experience necessary.
Supplies:
All basic supplies will be provided in class, including:
Handouts 2 Nibs Oblique* Penholder Ink Paper Pencil 
*Please notify the instructor if you are left-handed and would prefer to use a straight penholder.
You are welcome to bring your own favorite supplies (nibs, penholders, ink, etc.) to use in class.
