Poetry Press Week, Program 1

﻿O,Miamicelebrates South Florida through the empathy-building power of poetry.  Throughout the year, we teach poetry in schools, host a month-long festival, and publish poems in books and unexpected places like rooftops, billboards, and fences using a process called Civic Publishing. Our work is an act of love for this city, inviting residents to share their stories and write a new one together. O, Miami

Poetry Press Week, founded in Portland, Oregon in 2013, is a showcase of new works of poetry by established and emerging poets before an audience of press, publishers, and the public.
The event is modeled after fashion week, the fashion industry’s biannual showcase, wherein designers send new work down a runway via models. Instead of reading the work themselves, featured poets choose a novel method of presentation best suited to their work, and select editors, mixed in with the public, get the first crack at choosing that work for publication.
At Poetry Press Week Miami, the guest editors and publishers are Elizabeth Scanlon, Editor of American Poetry Review; Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Poetry Editor of Los Angeles Review of Books; Major Jackson, Poetry Editor of Harvard Review; and Saeed Jones, Editor of Buzzfeed Literary. 
Poets whose work is featured during Program 1 (Friday, April 22): Jaswinder Bolina, Cherry Pickman, Annik Adey-Babinski, Chasity Hale, and Aja Monet.
Join us for a night of poetry, cocktails, and celebration unlike any you’ve seen before.
