Poetry Masterclass

The Wandle RoomLondon, England
Overview

Spells and Alliterative Verse

A guided poetry workshop focused on developing one’s voice, learning the craft, seeing the world in new ways, and having the words to shape it. Participants will build confidence in poetry, playing with different poetic forms and the poet’s tools, developing their own, and if they choose, even performing them. This session offers a structured approach to learning, with expert step-by-step guidance and feedback, with practical exercises designed to support all levels.

About the Tutor

Adam Kirton is a working-class writer, professional teacher and educational consultant. Cambridge educated, with a background in policing, his Mancunian roots combine with a breadth of career experience to create unique tales and workshops for all who attend. He is interested in social mobility, Medieval and Renaissance literature, and narrative and emotional history.

His workshops focus on thinking differently, using a Medievalist mindset to change the way we perceive the world around us, and using writing as a performative act of self-care and wellbeing. He creates calm, friendly, and supportive environments where participants can develop their craft in an accessible, low-stakes culture surrounded by warmth and encouragement
