About this event

  • 35 days 1 hour

Facilitator: C.T.
Series Length: Ongoing (Join anytime!)
Suggested Supplies: Pen/pencil and paper or a journal

In this virtual class, we’ll use creative writing to articulate our wonder, care, and astonishment at the world. All experience levels are welcome—we define the role of the poet to simply be a person who pays attention. Through a wide range of weekly prompts and peer support, you’ll take up the task of articulating the big and small details of your world in your own language. Because poetry can be a social art, we'll share our writing as a way to appreciate the unique and valuable perspectives within our community.

For each class, you'll need a pen and poetry notebook (or paper).

Each class will take place from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. CT. You are welcome to attend all sessions of the class, or just drop in when you are available. Just sign up once to receive a reminder and Zoom link every week!

Join our Facebook group to connect with us and other participants, and to share your art: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mathercreativeprograms

You will receive a confirmation email that includes the Zoom link for your program, and the reminder emails each week will also contain the Zoom link.

If this is your first time accessing Zoom, or if you need a refresher, we’ve put together a few resources from around the web that should help!

  • Here is a guide on the basics from Zoom: https://youtu.be/pAMDxH_H_Cs
  • If you are using your phone or a tablet, the easiest way to access Zoom is by downloading the Zoom app, as shown here: https://youtu.be/0NBARnBxk-Y (Note that while this video shows an iPhone, other phones will have a similar process. The “App Store” for Android phones is called the “Play Store” or “Google Play Store.”)
