Peace Neighbor,
We would like to invite you to a conversation that is both urgent and critical: How to work together to stop our children from dying.
As students, parents, educators, elected officials, faith leaders and community members, we have a responsibility to protect and nurture our children, and we cannot afford to ignore the challenges they face today.
To facilitate this discussion, we have invited our own Dr. Hasshan Batts and Jeani Garcia. Dr. Batts and Jeani co-authored a chapter about how community disinvestment led to the murder of her son Kareem.
To share their insights and expertise with us, they will read from their chapter from the book, Beyond Equity and Inclusion in Conflict Resolution and lead a conversation on how we can work together to address the root causes of violence and trauma that threaten the lives of our children.
This event will be an opportunity for us to come together as a community and learn from each other. We believe that by sharing our knowledge, experiences, and resources, we can develop effective strategies to protect our children and create a safer, more equitable future for all.
We hope you will join us for this important conversation on 5/16/23 5:30-8:30. The event will take place at Theatre 514 at 514 N.19th St. Allentown, PA 18104, and light refreshments will be served.
Seating is limited to 75 individuals. Please RSVP by 5/7/23 to let us know if you can attend.
Thank you for your commitment to community safety and specifically our children's well-being, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Respect,
The Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley
