"Pls. Reply" Book Launch

The Bronx Museum of the Arts is an internationally recognized cultural destination that presents innovative contemporary art exhibitions and education programs and is committed to promoting cross-cultural dialogues for diverse audiences. Since its founding in 1971, the Museum has played a vital role in the Bronx by helping to make art accessible to the entire community and connecting with local schools, artists, teens, and families through its robust education initiatives and public programs. In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Museum implemented a universal free admission policy, supporting its mission to make arts experiences available to all audiences

Rochelle Feinstein and Didier William in conversation to commemorate the release of Pls. Reply, the selected writings of Rochelle Feinstein, edited by Antonio Sergio Bessa, published by Ugly Duckling Presse in collaboration with The Bronx Museum of the Arts and Stellar Projects.

The work of Bronx native Rochelle Feinstein is deeply informed by abstraction, while also conveying a keen sensibility to contemporary culture, particularly to our everyday use of language. Over the span of the last four decades, Feinstein has probed the relevance of the abstract painting tradition vis-a-vis a rapidly changing cultural environment. She has played an important role in the contemporary art scene as an artist, as well as a professor of painting at Yale University from 1994 to 2017 and her engagement and support for younger generations of artists. Pls. Reply offers the reader a broad scope of Feinstein’s ongoing engagement with contemporary art and culture, whether in magazine articles, personal writing, conference presentations, school assignments, or exhibition proposals.  
 
Visual artist and AIM alumnus Didier William is originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and has taught at Yale School of Art, Vassar College, Columbia University, and SUNY Purchase. He is currently Associate Professor of Art and the Chair of the MFA Program at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
