PLC Driven RTI: Building a Collaborative System that Collectively Responds to Student Learning Needs
This face-to-face training describes the rationale, formation and use of professional learning community practices that drive highly effective schools to improve student learning. Participants will learn the practical process of Response to Intervention (RtI) to provide multi-tiered instruction and intervention resulting in high levels of learning success for all students. Models of sample RtI systems are provided.
This training is also available on the R4SDSS Website as a web-based on-demand eLearning module.
During this training will:
- Participants will examine the reasons PLCs are such powerful transformers of school culture leading to high levels of student learning.
- Participants will learn successful strategies to develop, implement, and monitor PLCs at the district and school levels.
- Participants will examine the RtI process and attain the skills necessary to implement RtI at the school and district level.
- Participants will learn effective strategies for eliminating the achievement gap.

Kelly Wylie, Region 4 System of District and School Support Program Director, is a veteran educator with over 20 years of experience. Prior to her work at R4SDSS, Kelly had been a middle school administrator, an instructional coach and a classroom teacher. She provides expert practitioner technical assistance in the areas of Professional Learning Communities, Accountability, Multi-tiered System of Supports and ESSA; having presented at the national, state and local levels.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
All events are held at ACOE. Parking at ACOE is free. Note: our parking lot entrance is on Santa Clara Street.
PUBLIC TRANSIT: The closest BART station is the HAYWARD station. Several bus lines come from the BART station to the county offices. www.511.org has an accurate public transit trip planner.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Laptops or tablets are required for all of our workshops. Many of the resources offered are digital.

Region 4, System of District and School Support
No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires each state to establish a statewide system of intensive and sustained support and improvement for local education agencies and schools receiving Title I funding to increase opportunities for all students to meet state academic content and achievement standards. As a result, the Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS) was established, and partners with the California Department of Education (CDE), the Comprehensive Assistance Center, and county offices of education to form the Statewide System of School Support (S4) and satisfy the requirements of NCLB. The RSDSS of Region 4 provides leadership, resources, and technical assistance to the schools, districts, and county offices of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano in order to increase their collective capacity to support students in meeting or exceeding the state's academic content standards.
Cancellation Policy: Registrations cancelled seven (7) working days or less prior to the workshop are assessed the full charge of the registration. If the registration is cancelled eight (8) to fifteen (15) working days prior to the workshop, a fifty percent charge is assessed. If the registration is cancelled sixteen (16) or more working days prior to the workshop, a full refund is given. ***RSDSS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule our trainings as necessary***
