PlayTest

PlayTest is a night of genre-bending interactive narrative performances in which everyone becomes a storyteller. A little like theater, a little like a poetry reading, a little like table-top roleplaying games, a little like a story slam, PlayTest breaks down the barrier between performer and viewer, inviting the audience to participate in creating the stories being told. Come experience stories as play, rather than passive listening.

PlayTest is brought to you by Shelby Switzer and Nino McQuown, in collaboration with Baltimore’s own literary games publisher Scryptid Games. Examples of performances during the event include choose-your-own-adventure stories in which the audience decides the direction of the narrative, written word games and prompts for the audience that get incorporated into the narrative, and oral storytelling that incorporates song, chanting, or improvised noisemaking by the audience to deepen and embody the audience’s experience of the performance.
