PLAYGROUND

Feverfew (Eagle Rock)Los Angeles, CA
Monday, Apr 20 from 10 am to 1 pm
Overview

A look-and learn class for hairstylists followed by a hands-on workshop with Tiff McColl.

ALL ATTENDEES RECIEVE A SWAG BAG FILLED WITH GOODIES, INCLUDING SOME OF TIFF'S FAVORITE NON-TOXIC STYLING PRODUCTS FROM CULT + KING AND HAIRSTORY!

Are you a stylist who wants to attract more creative work in your chair? Maybe you want to learn razor techniques to cut hair in a way that it practically styles itself? Perhaps you already love using the straight razor but would like to imagine what's possible beyond shags and French bobs?

Then this might be the class for you; expect that it will be a bit unconventional and anything but boring!

Welcome to my "PLAYGROUND": a space meant for curiosity, experimentation , and getting out of our comfort zones!

The day will begin with a look-and-learn demo open to all levels of stylists. I will be showcasing my intuitive, sculptural process as I create and hand-style a haircut on a live model. Attendees will be able to get up close, record, and ask any questions as I work.

A group of six students will finish the day with an intimate and interactive hands-on workshop. The hands-on portion is designed for stylists who already come with some straight razor experience, as we will be diving into some advanced techniques while working on live models!

A little more about me:

I'm Tiff McColl , an Oakland-based haircutter widely sought after for creating expressive shapes best worn in their natural texture.

Fortunate enough to have been mentored by some of the top artists in the niche community of straight razor specialists , I received my foundational education in intuitive razor cutting. I deeply connected with the tool and how it let me approach haircutting in a way that felt powerful and freeing... even so, i I always felt like the odd one out in my environment--a bit of a misfit in the "Shag Factory", if you will.😂 This tension is what drove me to push my creative boundaries and begin devolping a strong personal style. I am happy to say that almost a decade later, I have not lost my love of explorative play in my haircutting practice.

There is no fooling anyone that I am the most technically skilled haircutter out there. I think that what makes me a successful hairstylist lies in the unmistakable quality to my work that sets it apart as uniquely my own. Because of this, have been able to call in a dream clientele who keeps me inspired in my day-to-day and hungry for more. Beyond giving you a glimpse of my intuitive haircutting process and teaching you a few straight razor tricks, I hope to also empower you with realistic tips to help you find your artistic voice and develop your authentic style behind the chair.
