Description

Join us Feb. 19 in Phoenix to learn about the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges of air quality and heat in Maricopa County. If unchecked these challenges will continue to have negative effects on public health and economic growth. Despite efforts to improve air quality in the Valley, we still face problems with high levels of ozone and are at risk for exceeding acceptable regulatory levels. As temperatures rise, so do health concerns for our most vulnerable populations as they deal with increased urban heat.

Guest speakers will discuss efforts currently underway to address ozone and heat through the development of regional resilience plans that will be created with input from everyone living in the Valley. The City of Phoenix will share information regarding the official announcement of Phoenix as a member of C40 Cities. Phoenix is one of 14 cities in the United States along with global cities working to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.

We are pleased to announce Joshua Alpert, Director, Special Projects, at C40 Cities as our keynote speaker to share insights on a US-specific strategy for moving forward on climate actions in a new context, and a host of other projects.
