White grapes are often categorized by winemakers as either "aromatic" or "non-aromatic" varietals. Aromatic varietals like Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Albariño and Torrontés, are grapes that are incredibly flavorful with on their own and require a gentle hand in production by the winemaker. Wines made from aromatic varietals are often crisp, bright and extremely quaffable on their own. They are often bursting with fruity, floral, or herbaceous flavors.
