On 4th May, 1930, a young unknown pilot, Amy Johnson, stayed at Croydon Aerodrome Hotel. Early the next morning on 5th May, she took off from Croydon Airport next door on an incredible solo flight to Australia. She flew in her open cockpit bi-plane, Jason. This amazing journey halfway across the world was the flight that made her name, making her an international superstar and securing her place in aviation history!

On the anniversary of Amy taking off from Croydon, children can find out more about Amy and make their very own Jason the Gipsy Moth aeroplane. All materials are provided in this fun workshop session led by experienced creative facilitator, Jenny Lockyer.

This workshop day can be enjoyed alongside the Croydon Airport Open Day happening just next door at the airport. Enjoy your visit there and then come to a workshop or enjoy the workshop first. Up to you! Tickets for the open day are available separately here: https://www.historiccroydonairport.org.uk/whats-on/

We advise booking EARLY for both events to secure your place as the open days are extremely popular.
