New York City is the uncontested center of the universe for US-based Placemaking. A trip here is sure to jostle the soul, elevate the senses and inspire placemakers to scale-up or go home. Let's make our nation better by learning from this great city and the people who are reaffirming its humanity with place-based interventions.

Join us as we deep dive with NYC local experts through a series of gatherings, workshops and thematic "Jane's Walk" tours, which you can select from and join for free during Jane Jacob's birthday weekend courtesy of the Municipal Art Society of New York.

Placemaking Weekends are a small-group program with special attention towards the things you most want to learn about and take away with you.

Beyond meeting with some of the best placemakers and placemaking in the business, we will spend time becoming a cohort by learning about what you are trying to accomplish in your work and connecting you with people and programs you need to know to advance your work and career from the entire placemaking network.

The Placemaking Weekend Program includes:

- Meetups, Workshops and "Jane's Walk" Tours with some of the best placemakers in the nation to go through their work and to explore their knowledge base and approach towards key placemaking issues.

- Active learning discussions and excursions to bond the group and expose us to great places around the city.

- Career exploration and connectivity chats dedicated to enhancing your effectiveness by connecting you with industry contacts and strategies that will help you take your impact to the next level.

City topics covered will be based on your interests and could include:

Open Streets, Transportation, Freeway Removal, Neighborhood Identity and Culture, Tactical Urbanism, Gentrification Issues, Placekeeping, Maker movement, Adaptive Reuse, Creative Economy, Nightlife, Tourism, Street Painting, Historic Preservation, Policy Review, Waterfronts, Parks and Green Spaces, Equity/Inclusion, Sustainability, Tourism, Community Engagement and Agency, Housing, Food Placemaking, Retail Districts, Micro-entrepreneurialism, New Urbanism.
