We will be using this to apply to Borderlands Fund for £5 million and hope it helps lever a promised £6 million from Scottish Government. </p><p><strong>Find out more and shape priorities! </strong></p><p>Barbara Chalmers,  Place Plan Manager, will explain the Plan and invite feedback at a public meeting on 6 June and at public drop-ins on 8 June.</p><p>The meeting starts with free refreshments and ends with a bit of live music from Kissing the Flint - a bit of a social as well as the serious business of this town's future.</p><p></p><h2>BOOK NOW TO ATTEND </h2><p>Come to this friendly public meetings to be first to see Stranraer's Place Plan. Let's all rise on the tide.</h2><h2></h2><h2>THE BACKSTORY</h2><p>Stranraer was invited to present a Place Plan to Borderlands - a fund for the south of Scotland and north of England. There's just under £15 million to be shared among 5 towns: Gretna, Stranraer, Wigtown, Whithorn and Kirkconnel/Kellaholm. </p><p>Stranraer Development Trust and the other key community partners - Stranraer Millennium Centre, Stranraer Watersports Association, Stranraer Community Council and the Furniture Project - have been working together for the past 6 months on this Place Plan for Stranraer.</p><p>We held many conversations with local people from Autumn 2022 to Spring 2023. Together we identified need and locals voted on priorities.</p><p>We’ve completed the draft Plan, pulled out priorities to apply for £5 million funding and will submit the Plan to the Council in August and once endorsed  by the Council, to Borderlands Fund in September.</p><p>The Plan is out to formal consultation from 2-30 June, the statutory 28 days required for it to be in keeping with the Council's Planning process. </p><p>Our consultation begins with discussions with secondary school pupils and invites the public, Councillors and Community Councillors across the Rhins to be informed and shape priorities.</p>

<p>Barbara Chalmers, Place Plan Manager, will introduce Stranraer's Place Plan on the 6th and will host the informal drop-ins on the 8th. </p>
