The buzz is back in the City of Poughkeepsie and with the launch of PKGO, it is bigger than ever. On April 2nd, 2019, the debut of PKGO Getters will take place at 5:30 PM at the Bardavon, Poughkeepsie with featured speaker, and Poughkeepsie native, Jessica O. Matthews, Founder and CEO of Unchartered Power.
Matthews is the CEO and Founder of Uncharted Power, an award-winning energy and data technology company that develops infrastructure solution, which she founded when she was only 22 years old. Her research and career centers around the intersection of disruptive technology, renewable energy, humane behavior, and the psychology of self-actualization. She was named Fortune’s Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs, Forbes 30 under 30 list alum, Inc Magazine 30 under 30 and Harvard University Scientist of the Year. These accomplishments giving her the apropo statement, “If ever there was an innovator, she’s it”, said by former President Bill Clinton.
Matthews is ushering in the PKGO Getters series that will highlight enterprising Poughkeepsie notables who have inspiring stories to share.
The evening will also feature performances by the Poughkeepsie High School Chorus, the Poughkeepsie Step Team, and an appearance by the Poughkeepsie Pioneers New York State Champions Boys Basketball Team. Poughkeepsie High School student Miguel Angel Sanchez, winner of the Guest MC Instagram contest held earlier in the month, will guide attendees through the night.
“We’re excited to shine a light on so many people who have their roots in Poughkeepsie and are now out making a true difference in the world,” said City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison. “We look forward to more of these events, providing people with positive experiences in our city.”
PKGO’s mission is to highlight the City of Poughkeepsie as a thriving, and growing city and to create a positive sense of community among current and future residents, businesses and visitors.
Following her talk, Mathews will hold an “After Hours Meet & Greet” at 40 Cannon. There will be light fare provided by local businesses and 40 Cannon’s own King’s Court Brewing Company, 1915 Wine Cellar and Cafe 40 & Co will be open for business.
