Pizza Throwdown 

Mission: To minister to the underserved in our communities by pioneering a creative new approach to combating both the issues of food insecurity and the larger issues of poverty in Southern California.Vision: Through creative collaboration and a foundation of compassion we will partner with like-minded individuals and organizations to build a sustainable model that utilizes culinary creativity to serve those people suffering from both the ongoing effects of poverty and food insecurity.In its simplest form Bracken’s Kitchen delivers hot and nutritious meals in a fun, and dignified manner. The program serves the highest quality and most nutritious meals that their clients will get all week.   In doing so they are not only nourishing the body but the soul as wellDignity, respect and pride are three areas that the program is intent on preserving for those served. The lives of the underserved in our community are challenging enough.  Bracken’s team feels that providing services to this population should and can be done in a dignified manner. Utilizing the power and popularity of the Food Truck, the Kitchen provides meals in a manner that echoes a fun, upbeat environment. Tables and chairs to sit at, music playing and a robust and varied menu from a clean and attractive truck are just a few of the elements that are used to deliver meals with dignity. Offering a hand up and not a hand out is one of Bracken’s Kitchen main objectives.

Bracken's Kitchen and OC Baking Company

What started out as a joke amongst friends has developed into a fundraising event for Bracken’s Kitchen, a non-profit created by Chef Bill Bracken, to end food insecurity in Orange County and beyond.
It all began when Chefs Chad Urata and Brent Omeste challenged OC Baking Company’s Master Baker Dean Kim to a pizza throwdown. Not realizing that Dean thrives on bets, Dean took it one step further and enlisted veteran OC pizza master Sandro Nardone to join him.
When other chefs catch wind of it via social media, The Veterans team is now six strong with the addition of Chef Dee Nyugen, Chef Greg Daniels, Lisa Gilmore and of course, Chef Bill Bracken.
On Sunday, January 29th, the friendly rivalry will include both teams creating their best pizza to be judged by participants at the event. Who will win the challenge? You be the judge! 
Tickets are limited to 100.
All tickets include pizza, non-alcoholic beverages and a token to vote for your favorite team.
