Pistolcraft Foundations

Lee Weems has been a peace officer since January of 1999 and has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, detective, supervisor, three terms as  Chief Deputy, and currently as an agency training director.  He has been sworn at the local, state, and federal levels, and he is an adjunct instructor on the collegiate level.  He served two terms on the Board of Directors of theGeorgia Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors(GALEFI) and is certified by GALEFI as a Master Firearms Instructor.  He is certified by theGeorgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council(POST) as a general topics and firearms instructor and is a graduate of the FBI's Law Enforcement Instructor and Police Firearms Instructor training programs.  He received the Distinguished Weapons Expert rating based on his score in the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers' Firearms Instructor Training Program. This class focuses on the technical craft of shooting in order to improve performance when defensively applying the pistol.

Red Hill Range

Course Description: Strong structures are built on a solid foundation. This class focuses on the core skills of pistolcraft to include grip, stance, sight picture/alignment, trigger control, presentations from the holster, target transitions, reloads, and more.Students will need to bring the following:<ul><li>All personal safety equipment (eye/ear protection, brimmed hat, etc)</li><li>A quality firearm of at least six-round capacity</li><li>Minimum of three magazines of 10-round capacity or more; a minimum of five magazines if less than 10-round capacity. Revolver shooters please contact lee@firstpersonsafety.com prior to registration.</li><li>A holster that will not collapse when the pistol is drawn and that does not have a retention device that requires the use of the trigger finger to actuate (such as the Serpa). AIWB is good to go, but no cross-draw or shoulder rigs.</li><li>Concealment garment</li><li>Personal comfort items (drinks, snacks, chairs, etc)</li><li>300 rounds of ammunition</li></ul>Skill Level: In order to attend this class, the student should be capable of following directions, accepting coaching, and have safe gun-handling skills. There will be some movement with drawn pistols and shots at 25 yards. There will be strict time and accuracy standards.Cost: The fee for the class is $100.00. A spot in the class may be secured by paying a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. Credit card fees apply if paid online via Eventbrite. A $20.00 range fee is due the day of class payable to the range.Weather Policy: If the weather is such that it jeopardizes the students&#x27; safety, the class will be postponed or delayed as appropriate. Otherwise, the class will go forth as scheduled rain or shine.Cancellation Policy: The deposit is non-refundable if you choose not to attend the class. If the range were to cancel, full refunds will be made. If I am forced to cancel the class for reasons other than the outlined above, students will have the option of a refund or attending the course on another date. I reserve the right to cancel the class and grant full refunds if fewer than six students sign up for the class.GA POST certified peace officers will receive POST credit for the class.
