Wondering what to do with those extra veggies - pickle them! In this 3.5-hour workshop, led by Stacie Sandoval, you will learn how to make pickled vegetables. This class consists of a brief introduction to the quick and fermented pickling process with hands-on time to create a quick pickle, a fermented pickle, along with a demonstration of the instructor's southern grandmother's quick Cha Cha pickle. Quick and fermented pickled vegetables can have a great nutritional value and are tasty as a side dish and in a sandwich or salad.

About the Instructor: Stacie Sandoval

Instructor, Stacie Sandoval defines herself as "a couth omnivore with vegetarian tendencies". As a Bay Area native, Stacie has been surrounded by an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruit as well as understands the value of sustainable gardening/farming. With favorite chefs such as Jacques Pépin, Martin Yan, and Gabrielle Hamilton; along with her mother, Patricia Sandoval; Stacie has learned so much about great cooking and flavors. Stacie has been the managing director of P.S. Scrumptious! Catering since 2005 and is working on expanding her fusion taco enterprise, Mas y More Tacos, per her recent 12-week business planning class graduation from the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center.
All materials will be provided and participants will take home three pickles (quick, fermented, cha cha). Participants should know the basics of cutting vegetables and be familiar with knife safety.
