Analogue Farm

Karel Doing will run a 'phytogram' filmmaking workshop, which uses the internal chemistry of plants to create photographic images. Participants will learn a simple hands-on process that yields spectacular results and can easily be continued independently. 
Since 1990 filmmaker and artist Karel Doing has been creating films, performances and installations focusing on sensorial and environmental topics. Through the study of material process, the recording of oral history and the (re)use of cinematic heritage he explores alternative knowledge systems. Doing’s work has been shown worldwide in cinemas, galleries, museums and on stage. He has has given workshops and lectures internationally at Willem de Kooning Academy, Piet Zwart Institute, KABK, Nordland Kunst og Filmfagskole, FAMU, University of East London, Ravensbourne College and School for New Dance Development. He is presently based in Cambridge and London.
The workshop is open to people age 12+ and no former experience or knowledge is necessary. The workshop fee is £27.50 per person with lunch and refreshments provided.

Please note: Karel will show a programme of his films on the same evening along with a special screening of films made by the internationally renowned Canadian experimental filmmaking collective Film Farm. The screening is a free event open to all, (although donations will be welcomed). FAQs
 Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
We recommend that this workshop is for people of 12 years and above.
 What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
We are based in Whitworth, Rossendale. The nearest train station is Rochdale. There is a bus at 09:58 on a Saturday that would get you to the workshop in plenty of time. The 464 stops at the bottom of Acre Street, or you could call a taxi from the station to Acre St in Whitworth and then it is a ten minute walk up to our farm from there. 
People travelling by car - please park on Acre Street or Longacres and then walk up to the farm. Once at the top of Acre Street, you will see a track, go up it, at the top turn right then you will see a sign for Slacks Farm. If you think you might struggle with a short steep walk up a hill then please contact us to arrange a lift!

What's the refund policy?
We will refund upto 7 days before the event.
 Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
If you can't make the workshop and want to sell your place on, please contact us to tell us the name of the person who is coming instead.
 Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Yes, but only if you have given us previous notification.
