NU-PEL is an interdisciplinary lab comprised of faculty and student teams conduting evaluation research that leads to healthier communities and enhances the lives of those living within them.  The lab is a collaboration of the Institute of Health Equity and Social Justice Research inBouvé College of Health Sciences and the Institute on Race and Justice in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.The overal vision of NU-PEL is to build a community-academic partnership to improve our communities and the well-being of the people living in them through the use of evaluation research.  This is accomplished bringing together expertise and resourdes to advance the theory, practice, and utilization of evaluation through research, education, and service.NU-PEL's aims are threefold:To build collaboration and share evaluation knowledge and expertise across Northeastern University's colleges.To train undergraduate and graduate students in the techniques of program evaluation throug a wide-array of experiential learning opportunities.To provide evaluation and consultative services to Greater Boston are community organizations with the mission of improving the health, well-being, and safety of the people impacted by these organizations.NU-PEL's team has over 20 years of professional program evaluation experience.  Collectively, they have recieved funding from national, state, and local agencies including SAMHSA, NIJ, U.S. Department of Justice, NIH, NIMH, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, and Boston Public Health Commission.NU-PEL is committed to supporting the Greater Boston community in developing methods to gather and utilize rigorously collected evaluation data.  NU-PEL works collaboratively with organizations to determine their unique evaluation needs and design appropriate evaluation modalities.Evaluation services provided by NU-PEL include but are not limited to:Designing and implementing an evaluationDeveloping logic models, appropriate measures and data collection instrumentsUsing qualiative and quantitative methods to gather and analyze dataIncreasing evaluative capacity within an organizationFor more informtion or to contact NU-PEL, please email at: NU-PEL@northeastern.edu

<p>Photovoice is a participatory qualitative research method that blends narrative with photography. Through photovoice, marginalized community members are empowered to share their words and photos as a way to reach decision-makers and implement positive change. Join NU-PEL to hear from an expert panel of researchers with hands-on experience using photovoice in community settings. We will explore practical tips and things to consider when planning and conducting a photovoice project, share lessons learned, and other topics.</p>
