Photoshop Certification Workshop for Teachers: 2024

WHAT IS THE COURSE?

In a nutshell, I help teachers get certified in Adobe programs and prepare them to teach Digital Media courses in k-12. This training used to be a part of the Louisiana Department of Education's Super Summer Institute, which was professional development for Louisiana educators. It is still the same training with the same purpose but since covid it has gone virtual.

This event is a weeklong digital crash course in Photoshop, primarily focused towards achieving an Adobe Certified Associate certification in Photoshop.* I teach Digital Media, Media Arts, and have been teaching Adobe programs at Louisiana's Super Summer Institutes.

HOW IS IT TAUGHT?

This course will consist of 5 days with two, two hour live digital sessions per day. Each digital session will provide live tutorials, demonstrations, and Q&A, covering all of the basics of the program. Each day will start with a live Zoom session and demonstration from 10-12am. The rest of the afternoon is for lunch, research, homework, and study time. The evening session from 2-4pm will consist of further demonstration, troubleshooting, and answering questions. In order to learn you will want to follow along using the Adobe Photoshop program during our digital sessions.

Monday through Friday will be training and I will offer on-site training/certification testing on Thursday and Friday for those who are interested and/or able. On-site training/certification is dependent upon the availability of Chalmette High School.

HOW DO I GET CERTIFIED?

***IMPORTANT for TESTING***: This year I will be able to offer onsite Adobe certification testing for Louisiana teachers seeking certification. I teach at Chalmette High School, which is an Adobe testing site. I have approval to use the site for 2 days to proctor exams. Thursday, June 27th Louisiana teachers will be welcome to come to Chalmette High School for in-person training, test prep, and be able to take the exam. You will need to purchase your own testing voucher through Certiport. I can walk you through the process of purchasing a voucher if needed. On Friday, June 28th I will host another in-person training, test prep, and offer the exam to take or to re-take if necessary. In-person training and testing is optional. If you do not come to the in-person testing you will be responsible for finding your own place to take the certification exam.

• 1-2pm: Testing onsite at Chalmette High School for those interested

***Certiport testing voucher is not included. I can sometimes get free vouchers, but generally registrants will be responsible for purchasing their own testing vouchers through Certiport and making arrangements for testing. This will be discussed during the training. Certiport does offer "Exams from Home" or you can test at a licensed testing site near you. I will do my best to assist you with obtaining the certifications you need!

***Minimum requirements:

You must have Zoom and Adobe Photoshop to take this course.
