Photography Workshop Boulder

Catherine KarnowBorn and raised in Hong Kong, San Francisco-based National Geographic photographer, Catherine Karnow, studied photography in high school and graduated Brown University with honors in Comparative Literature and Semiotics. Her work has appeared in National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, French GEO, Day in the Life books, Passage to Vietnam, Women in the Material World, and many other international books and magazines. She gained unprecedented access to Prince Charles for her 2006 National Geographic feature, “Not Your Typical Radical.” In 1994, she was the only non-Vietnamese photojournalist to accompany General Giap on his historic first return to the forest encampment from which he plotted the battle of Dien Bien Phu. Catherine’s love for photography extends to teaching.  She teaches photography workshops for National Geographic, Trails of Indochina, Pixar, a variety of corporate and private clients, and her own signature workshops in Italy and Vietnam. Catherine is known for her vibrant, sensitive way of photographing people.

PHOTO WORKSHOP BOULDER One Day Workshop - Saturday, November 12, 2016 with National Geographic Photographer Catherine Karnow Join us for a rare opportunity to improve your photography with Catherine Karnow, visiting from San Francisco. This one-day workshop will include shooting on location in downtown Boulder, as well as learning in the classroom. Learn to approach and photograph people, making meaningful connections, as well as how to capture a moment in city life, both outside and inside.  We will spend time at both the Farmers Market and Pearl Street. This workshop is open to all levels of photographers and will be limited to 12 people. Cost $225 Schedule 8:00  Meet at Madelife Studio, 2000 21st St, Boulder, CO 80302 8:00 - 9:30  Catherine gives an educational presentation of her images made on assignment for National Geographic 10:00 - 12:00  Shoot Farmers Market 12:00 - 1:00  Lunch, Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse (<A HREF="http://www.boulderteahouse.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">boulderteahouse.com</A>) 1:30 - 3:00  Shoot Pearl Street 3:30 - 5:30 Download and Critique, Madelife Studio, 2000 21st St, Boulder, CO 80302 6:00   Workshop ends Bring Camera and lens, extra camera battery, plenty of memory cards, laptop with plenty of space, software to select and view your images. Optional: portable hard drive, tripod and flash. Laptops can be left safely in the classroom when we go shoot.
