There is a concept in photography we call the Iron triangle. For an image to be properly exposed, three settings must be equal. If one value is less than or greater that the other two, the image will be compromised, to dark, to bright blurry, grainy, etc.

Camera Auto-modes apply the principal of the Iron Triangle of exposure is a specific way to capture consistent, correct exposure 90+ percent of the time.

When we know the rules of the triangle, we can manipulate it to create something different. We can apply subject isolation, motion blur and other in camera effects to take a simple image from an afterthought to an intentional representation of its subject.

In this course we will cover:

  • The Iron Triangle of Exposure. Aperture - Shutter Speed - ISO
  • Lens Focal Lengths and their Effects on your images
  • Cheating just a little bit: MASP and other Auto Settings

This 60-minute workshop is perfect for anyone looking to take control of their image creation and escape the auto mode.

Hello I’m Blu, a classically trained, old school style commercial photographer based here in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Having grown up here and graduating from Wheat Ridge High School, I’m looking forward to connecting with other creatives from this corner of Colorado!

I attended the Hallmark School of Photography in Western Massachusetts and worked as a teacher assistant at the Maine Media Workshops with some amazing creators at the top of their fields. Over the past 18 years I’ve worked across the country with businesses ranging from single person startups to large corporations to create customized still and video content.
