Pet CPR Certification Course

Would you know how to help your dog in a life-threatening emergency? Now’s your chance to learn! Melanie Monteiro, dog safety coach, pet first aid instructor and author of The Safe Dog Handbook will be hosting a four hour hands-on certification workshop for pet enthusiast to teach you how to prevent and respond to basic life-threatening emergencies such as choking, collapse, heatstroke and bleeding. Although this is a dog-focused class, you’ll learn first aid skills (CPR, wound-care, vital signs, etc.) for both dogs and cats.

Topics include:

• Pet CPR

• Canine Heimlich Maneuver/choking skills

• How to read a pet’s vital signs

• How to create your own pet first aid kit

• Summer/travel safety

• Common SoCal toxic plants, foods and other hazards

• Q&A and more!

*All students will receive a color first aid guide and certification card from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute.

Well behaved, patient and socialized dogs are welcome to attend. Please dress comfortably and bring a towel/blanket/beach chair to sit on. There will be a short break at the midway point and light refreshments for humans and dogs will be provided by Healthy Spot.
