Personal Defense Class

225 S Meldrum StFort Collins, CO
Wednesday, Mar 4 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Overview

Not your typical women's self-defense class! Learn situational/body awareness, posture, movement, self-defense, and protection devices.

In this empowering class, participants learn many different tactics and techniques to avoid, mitigate, and defend against potentially violent situations. First, attendees are taught proper body posture, demeanor, body confidence, and awareness, as well as how to stand and walk to deter potential attackers. Secondly, participants learn basic and effective self-defense techniques to create windows to escape a violent encounter. Finally, attendees learn about the many different types of nonlethal personal protection devices and even get to practice with a few of them.

This class is taught at the beginner level, and no previous experience is necessary. The class is also designed for all ages, with the only restriction that attendees must be 18 or older. The course material is geared specifically towards women's self-defense situations and techniques. Everyone can participate at their comfort level, and are welcome to practice techniques alone, with a partner, with the female instructor, or with the male instructor. We recommend that attendees wear comfortable workout style clothes and shoes.

It is important to note this class is a beginner-level introduction to the many different aspects of personal defense, and is not a substitute for regular training at a reputable martial arts school or self-defense training center.
