Join us for a day of tours, classes, and amazing people, at one of the most incredible Medditeranian Permaculture Food Forests in the world, right here in Oroville!
Start off with The Food Forest Designer and key installer, Jesse Grimes, of Earth Care Design and Construction, will begin the presentations with an introduction to the principles of permaculture design. This will be followed by a slideshow, demonstrating how these principles have been applied over the last 7 years to transform a struggling orchard and compacted pasture into the thriving food forest ecosystem that exists today. Following the presentations, Jesse will be leading a tour of Rancho Pindo, highlighting real world examples of the permaculture principles in action.
After a quick break, The property manager and local soil guru, Greg Phelan will lead a walk and talk throughout the property seeing living demonstrations about EVERYTHING SOIL! From cover cropping, to thermal composting, Johnson Sue, worm composting, lasagna layering, and so much more
Matthew Trumm, local Permaculture madman and owner of Treetop Permaculture will also be with us the whole time Matthew Trumm, local Permaculture madman and owner of Treetop Permaculture will also be with us the whole time taking Q&A all day and selling some of his specailty trees and plants to take home with you. He will take cash and card.
We have made this a long event to have lots of time to hang out inbetween and build relationships. There will be an hour lunch break at noon. Snacks, water, and tea will be provided but you will need to bring your own lunch. We are about 10-15 minutes away from town if you need to go grab something.
We are excited to share this amazing space with you! We want to inspire you, guide you, and give you resources to start or continue your Permaculture journey and make your own garden of Edens! Sun hat, good walking shoes, reusable water bottles, lunch, cooler to keep lunch and or beverages cool for lunch, money for plants and other items for sale, notebook, pen, camera, and a great attitude! Lets try to avoid hot topics like politics and religion etc.. we are here to unite not divide :-)
Yes! There is an amazing natural earthen plaster bathroom with specialty compost toilet that flushes just like a regular toilet, sink and all the amenities! We will also have plenty of drinking water available to fill your canteens.
