<H2>Performance Without Compromise</H2>
What does Netflix’s new React-based architecture for devices have in common with RxJS version 5? Both take an unflinching stance on performance. At this event, we’ll be giving two half-hour talks on these topics.
React.js for TV UIs: In the first talk, we’ll share how we achieved a completely declarative, React-based architecture that’s fast on the devices in your living room. We'll talk about how and why we adhered to principles like no refs, no observation, no mixins or inheritance, immutable state, and top-down rendering. We’ll share techniques we used to hit our tough performance targets, while not compromising the architecture.
RxJS Version 5: In the second talk, we'll explain what RxJS is, and why we use and love it. We'll share the motivations behind a new version of RxJS and how we built it from the ground up with an eye on performance and debugging. We'll talk about the techniques that we used to squeeze as much performance as possible out of this already great library. 
 
About the Speakers
Steve McGuire (<A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://twitter.com/s_m_mcguire" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">@s_m_mcguire</A>) is a Senior Software Engineer on the UI Platform team at Netflix. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting with game and graphics dev, rust, and machine learning.
Ben Lesh (<A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://twitter.com/BenLesh" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">@BenLesh</A>) is a Senior Front-end Engineer on the Netflix Developer Experience team. He’s also the project lead for the redevelopment of RxJS.

Reminder: This event is in our new Netflix building (building D) at 121 Albright Way. It is reasonably close to our old building where we've had our past Netflix JavaScript Talks events. Please drive to the back of the building where there is plenty of parking, and you'll see signs for registration on the backside of building D.
