Join us on for a special OC Film Fiesta tribute to acting legend, painter and former OC resident PEPE SERNA on Sat., Oct. 25 @ 7pm with a screening of his documentary Pepe Serna: Life Is Art, his new short film Disco Beats and a signing of his new memoir.This special event will take place at Media Arts Santa Ana’s TVGB Digital Maker Space, located at 1666 N Main in Santa Ana, at the corner of 17th and Main St. and easily accessible from the 5 freeway at the 17th St. exit.
PEPE SERNA: LIFE IS ART is a one-hour documentary about the life and career, told in his own words, of veteran supporting actor Pepe Serna, best known for his roles in such films as Scarface, Buckaroo Banzai, Silverado, American Me, Car Wash, Man from Reno and Downsizing. Featuring interviews with Cheech Marin, Edward James Olmos, Luis Valdez, Eva Longoria, Jesús Salvador Treviño, film critic David Ansen and more. Directed by Luis Reyes.
DISCO BEATS is a tender exploration of two men who connect through the language of dance. Lou (played by Pepe Serna), an 80 year old who’s never learned to dance enlists the help of Benny, middle aged and troubled, to teach him so that he can surprise his wife on their 60th wedding anniversary. Frustrated with his station in life, Benny’s fear of a long-term commitment affects his relationship with Rosie, the dance studio owner. Over the course of the day, the two men bond, ending with Lou sharing a poignant lesson that leaves Benny with a newfound appreciation of life and love. Writer/Director and co-star Ken Arquelio will also be in attendance.
