About this event

We ask that you:

* Register each person, if you plan to ride with others

* Bring an official ID (government issued with photo & address). We'll hold onto it until the bikes and helmets are returned.

* Wear a helmet (yours or ours)

* Stay within park boundaries, ride safely & keep to the right, and be respectful of all park users when cycling

* Return the bike within 2 hours; for later times, by 5pm

* Minors must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian

* Follow NYS recommended COVID-19 safety protocols

From Thursday through Sunday, choose from the following sessions:

10am - noon

11am - 1pm

Noon - 2pm

1 pm - 3 pm

2pm - 4pm

3 pm - 5 pm

4 pm - 5pm

Please be on time and report to the Bike Library at 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue, near the entrance along Hendrix Creek. We offer a 15 minute grace period, before lending your reserved bikes to other park patrons.

The Bike Library provides access to free bicycles from the first weekend in May to the last weekend in October. Our 2023 season runs from May 4th to October 29th. We operate Thursday through Sunday, and we are open on federal holidays. Our first ride out is 10am and last ride out is 4pm. On-line registration is on the hour, and walk-ins may sign up on the half hour. We ask that

Each rider must register per visit;

    • Adults in the group must leave a license or NYC ID while bikes are on loan;
    • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian;
    • There is a 6 rider limit every 30 minutes;
    • Stay within park boundaries;
    • Ride safely - stay to the right and respect others on the path;
    • Return the bike with 2 hours, and at the end of the day be 5pm, and;
    • Wear appropriate shoes: with closed toes such as sneakers.
